If you find yourself dissatisfied with growing wrinkles around your lips and smile lines, you may want to look into a dermal filler to correct these signs of aging.
Restylane can restore volume to your perioral lines and lips and help you find confidence in your appearance once more. Board-certified plastic surgeon Jose Rodríguez-Feliz, M.D., specializes in a variety of cosmetic techniques and procedures. After almost ten years of service, Dr. Rodríguez-Feliz and his staff will ensure you experience the highest level of service from the moment you contact us until your final appointment.
Restylane is the only FDA-approved dermal filler that actively focuses on your lips and perioral lines. It is made of a substance called Hyaluronic Acid (HA). This helps restore both hydration and volume to your skin, which reduces lines and wrinkles on your face. There are two kinds of Restylane that Dr. Rodríguez-Feliz offers.
This dermal filler is specifically meant to be injected under the skin around your nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Using XpresHAn technology, Restylane Defyne is able to restore a natural, youthful appearance while maintaining your natural expressions.
This allows it to smooth away wrinkles at the sides of your nose that run down to your mouth (nasolabial folds) and the lines running from the corners of your mouth to your chin (marionette lines).
This dermal filler is the first filler designed to enhance the size and shape of your lips. Like Restylane Defyne, it is designed with XpresHAn technology to provide volume and maintain natural expressions.
Miami Restylane patients can discuss exactly what you’re looking for with Dr. Rodríguez-Feliz, and he can recommend which type of Restylane injections will benefit you the most. This not only reduces lines and wrinkles but also gives your lips an overall fuller appearance that can last up to one year.
As we grow older, we begin to produce fewer collagen proteins and hyaluronic acid. These two work together to maintain the full, flexible skin that we associate with a youthful appearance.
When less is produced, our skin starts to wrinkle and/or sag, making us appear older. In addition, factors such as stress, genetics, and the environment affect our aging process. Restylane can reduce these changes in your appearance by stimulating increased growth of HA and collagen, rejuvenating your skin, and slowing the loss of volume. Placing small, strategic amounts of dermal filler subtracts years from your face and restores a vital, stimulating look to your features.
Restylane is a non-surgical procedure and highly tolerated by most patients. During treatment with Restylane Miami patients will have a topical anesthetic applied to the area you are treating 15-30 minutes prior to your procedure for ultimate comfort. In addition, Restylane contains a small amount of lidocaine, further reducing any pain you may feel from the injections. Although there may be a sting on your first injection, you will become more numb as the procedure continues, lessening any discomfort. The entire procedure can take up to an hour depending on what part(s) of your face you are having treated.
Getting Restylane injections is a fairly straightforward procedure. Dr. Rodríguez-Feliz will begin by applying a numbing solution to your target area.
Once that has taken effect, your skin will be properly disinfected and prepared for your injections. He will then inject your desired areas with the filler. Once Dr. Rodríguez-Feliz has finished your injections, you may be given ice to reduce swelling and bruising. This also reduces any bleeding.

If you’re unhappy with growing wrinkles and loss of volume in your lower face and/or lips, then Restylane is a dermal filler that can help correct these signs of aging. Restylane is the first and only FDA-approved filler available for these specific areas of your face.
After the injection, there will likely be swelling, bruising or redness, soreness, itching at the injection site, headache, and lump formation. There may also be some pain. Patients report that these are mild symptoms and choose over-the-counter pain relievers to treat them as needed. Ice can also be applied post-procedure to reduce swelling, bleeding, and inflammation.
After your injections, it’s important to avoid touching the site of the injection for at least six hours. You can then wash the area before applying cold compresses to reduce swelling. You will also need to avoid sunlight and extreme cold. Avoid makeup for a few days. Swelling can take up to a week to subside in your nasolabial folds and marionette lines, and up to two weeks in your lips.
Because Restylane is an elective cosmetic procedure, insurance providers do not usually cover the cost. You will pay out of pocket, but there are payment and financing options available if you need them.
If you would like to get Restylane injections, Dr. Rodríguez-Feliz requires that all patients come in for a consultation prior to scheduling treatment in order to establish eligibility. Please note that you should be in relatively good health, a nonsmoker, and at least 21 years old.
Generally speaking, the site of injection will not leave any scarring as there will be no incision. In addition, some people use Restylane to reduce acne scars to rejuvenate their skin’s texture. There can be some bruising from the site of the injection, but this should fade within 7-10 days post-injection.
