Otoplasty is usually performed on an outpatient basis using local anesthesia so that you are comfortable and pain free during the procedure. It’s used to treat a range of ear irregularities such as:

• ears with problems related to previous surgical attempts
• ears that were distorted from cosmetic surgery of the face

The goal of otoplasty is to provide a well-proportioned look to the face overall. Techniques vary based upon the patient and the condition of the ears but, generally, incisions are made where necessary, excess cartilage and skin is removed, remaining cartilage is folded into place and secured with internal stitches.
